Initial Accreditation Application

The WASC Initial Accreditation review process involves three steps: submission of the Letter of Intent, the Capacity and Preparatory Review (CPR), and the Educational Effectiveness Review (EER). The CPR and EER both involve the submission of a written report, which is followed by an on-campus site visit.

On July 7, 2009, UC Merced submitted its Capacity and Preparatory Review Report with the site visit to take place from September 29-October 1, 2009.  The purpose of the site visit is to confirm that:

  1. UC Merced has the "capacity", i.e. resources (physical, fiscal and human) and the infrastructure (policies and procedures including
learning goals, outcomes and related assessment practices) to achieve our educational goals; and

  2. UC Merced is prepared to move ahead with the Educational Effectiveness Review. The focus of the EER will be to evaluate how effectively we engage in the practices that support student and institutional learning and the improvement thereof. Of particular interest will be our student learning assessment practices across the institution and our ability to engage in evidence-based organizational learning and improvement.

All of the materials associated with UC Merced’s Capacity and Preparatory Review Report are provided below.
