UC Merced has been granted Candidacy by our regional accreditation association, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). We are now working to fulfill the requirements for Initial Accreditation.

On January 12, 2010, UC Merced received the Report of the WASC Visiting Team regarding the Capacity and Preparatory Review, the second step in the Initial Accreditation process. 

On February 17, 2010, the WASC Accreditation Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities will issue its findings regarding UC Merced's fulfillment of the Commission’s expectations under the Core Commitment to Institutional Capacity. With positive findings, UC Merced will move forward with the Educational Effectiveness Review as scheduled.
